Heating System
for turnouts


The electric heating of the turnouts serves to remove snow or ice from the turnouts, from the space between the adjacent rail and the tongue (from the moving parts of the switch), from the sliding pads and for heating the zone of the switch switch. 


The device supplied by our company corresponds to all systems of railway safety devices, which are used on European railways. This system is used to regulate the heating of the switches according to the current weather conditions with the simultaneous testing of the functionality of the rail heaters. 


In the broadest possible sense, the system is conceived as a universal set, which can be assembled on site to meet the requirements and needs of a specific railway station.


The device consists of:

  • Power supply with KM
  • Transformer stations 25 kV /230 V
  • Distribution cabinets ROGS
  • Cable distribution
  • Cable heads
  • Heater
  • SCADA system for remote control and signaling


The device is modular and its scope depends on the number of switches to be heated. The device is equipped with a SCADA system with programmable logic controllers (PLC), which provides automatic operation based on the evaluation of information about the set temperature and information about air temperature, rail temperature and air humidity, obtained from temperature and precipitation sensors. It excludes human factor error and guarantees work efficiency.


The heating of the switch levers and latches is controlled separately and independently. If necessary, it can also be switched on locally by officials in the checking mode, in order to diagnose and control the correct operation of the device, e.g. after the summer break or after the works on the turnout.


The device is technically designed for driving speeds of up to 300 km/h. It can be used on all commonly used switches, both on tracks with classic spacing and on narrow-gauge tracks.
